Where Did the Time Go?
This morning I looked at the calendar and already more than half of May has come and gone. And I have an article deadline fast approaching. Where has all the time gone?
Do you get the sense it is just whizzing by, too?
Once the temperatures started warming up, I found myself immersed in everything outdoors… and I mean everything!
The much-anticipated chicken coop I ordered in February in between the Ohio snow storms arrived and there was all the work involved in getting it ready to move the hens. Once that was done, it was on to moving the chicks into a different room in the garage and getting the smaller coop ready and moved outdoors for them to inhabit. Finally, just a few days ago, the eight-week-old chicks were moved into the smaller coop where they will reside until they are 18 weeks old and can join the hens in the main coop.
Whew! Just reading all that makes my head spin! Then, right on the heels of all the chicken relocations it was time to uncover the garden and start planting and so on and so forth… you get the drift! Spring is my absolute favorite season of the year! Everything is emerging from its dormant state, including me!
So, where I was doing well following my time allocation schedule while it was still quite chilly and rainy, a few things slipped further down on the list than they were previously prioritized.
And you know what? That is OK. I sighed and allowed myself some Grace.
“Be Firm in Intention and Flexible with Form,” a saying Beth recently shared with me, reminds me that everything in life is a process and I’m still learning to find balance in all things.
In finding balance, Grace flows naturally.
Allowing Grace doesn’t mean I’m procrastinating; however, I will admit I have been more than a little distracted with other things today. Do you find yourself easily distracted? Have you ever dissected your distraction down to what’s causing the distraction?
Squirrel!
Much laughter at myself for being completely distracted in the middle of writing.
To continue on, when I find myself easily distracted, instead of continuing with that distraction and eventually frenzied flurry of activity, I become more mindful of what I am doing and recognize when resistance may be showing up like it was today.
With that realization, once I finish this article it’s right back to the task at hand of practicing for my workshop that I’ll be practice-teaching to a group of my friends next week. I’m excited to do this and to begin offering it to others. These days my awareness radar is on all the time. And that is what I call GROWTH!
