While the Community Journal is for sharing personal stories, in the context of Held in the Heart, the central focus is that we are also doing this from a place of service — meaning we are giving something valuable to the reader (guidance, tips, resources, insight, inspiration, etc…) in the process. Please consider the following questions when writing/reviewing your piece: • Why am I writing this article? (What’s the intention?) • What’s the point? (What’s the story really about? What’s the theme or central Idea?) • In support of the central theme, which sections do I need to elaborate on? Which parts can I remove? • Is this story similar to another story that I’ve read? Am I using my authentic voice? • If somebody reads only the title of my article, will they understand what it’s about? • What’s the take away for the reader? (Or the invitation to them?)
