WHAT IS MANTRA MEDITATION?

Beth Barbaglia_Kirtan.jpg

Mantra Meditation, (also called Mantra Therapy or Mantra Yoga) is an important part of Ayurveda, the holistic medicine from India and the healing branch of Yogic Science. Sanskrit Mantras are sound formulas packed with energy & intention that have a profound effect on the body-mind. When these sound waves (Mantras) are combined with thought waves (intentions), they become powerful tools for insight, healing, creativity & spiritual growth.

The healing powers of Sanskrit chanting are just now being discovered in the West, as many are seeing that Mantras are a powerful holistic alternative to the overwhelming number of drugs being prescribed for anxiety & depression. Mantras use sound waves (sound energy) to heal our minds on the subconscious level, where the roots of our modern anxieties are found. Additionally, they are penetrating our physical bodies on the subtle and cellular levels, where we are storing stuck energy and emotional pain.*

Japa is the practice of speaking, or internally reciting a Mantra, whereas as chanting simply means your Mantra is sung/repeated to a melody or musical key.
